The Sucevita Monastery
The Sucevita Monastery, which celebrates God’s Resurection, was built in the last decades of the 16th century with the contribution of the entire aristrocrat Movila family.During the reign of Irimia Movila (1595-1606) the church is added the two porches in front on the north and the south sides, the insede towers and the church was painted inside and outside.
In the theme of the painting we find: - the virtue ladder-a contrast between the order of the angels and the chaos of hell;
- all saints prayer;
- Iesei’s tree-based on the ancient philosophers;
- complete cycles of the lives of some saints: St. Ioan cel Nou, St. Nicolae, St. Gheorghe;
Here we also find the graves of the kings Ieremia and Simion Movila.
